Nintendo reigns supreme on this week’s chart, with Wii Fit leapfrogging Tiger and the boy Potter and Wii Sports Resort enjoying another week in the sun.

The way things have been going that’s likely to be all the sun we’re going to see this summer too. Small wonder that Sports Resort’s sales have actually increased by 6% since last week’s blockbuster launch. We’re still not sure about the lofty price tag, though – £49.99! – or the somewhat meh articulation of the new MotionPlus accessory that comes bundled. Otherwise it’s a work of vibrant colour and pure joy as only Nintendo can deliver, and it’s the perfect antidote to the rest of the po-faced contestants on this week’s countdown. None of which, we note, feature a dog chasing a Frisbee. And that's a tragic oversight for any game, isn't it?

But moving on, and the all-formats/full-price top ten for the week ending August 1st is pretty much the same as last weeks, as you’ll see below. The highest-placed new entrant is the three dimensional fluff-fest G-Force at 23, followed distantly by a trio of old faces getting a second, third or possibly fourth wind – Need For Speed: Undercover, Halo Wars and Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection at 38, 39 and 40 respectively. The words ‘Ho’ and ‘Hum’ spring to mind...
