Metal Gear man stays onboard the gravy train [PS3]

Tuesday August 26, 08:14 AM Metal Gear man stays onboard the gravy train

Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has previously announced that he wants to hand his gargantuan franchise to a younger development team. One that, presumably, is not sick to death working on the same series year-in year-out and is not concerned about being branded as a one-trick pony. Well, that’s our guess…

However, having just celebrated his 45th year on the planet it seems that Kojima-san is having difficulty letting go of the reins. Indeed, when asked by Kikizo "Can you really see yourself - say after another ten years - not having directed a fifth game?" he answered, perhaps unsurprisingly: "When we look ten years into the future, maybe yes, I may well end up spending more time on the Metal Gear series."

So that’s great news, isn't it. Of course it’s no guarantee that Kojima will have anything other than an exec producer role on the next instalment but it wouldn’t be a Metal Gear game without his involvement somewhere, and that’s a cold fact. Then again was there ever any real danger of that coming to pass? Given that Kojima’s been on the verge of calling it quits ever since Metal Gear 2 we rather think not!
