So far the Nazi zombie-related downloadable extras for Call of Duty: World at War have been loads more fun than the main game itself. In our very humble opinion, that is. Anyway, heads-up, and all that – Map Pack 3 is on its way to Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network this Thursday, August 6th.

Pack the third comprises a trio of new multiplayer arenas – Battery, Breach and Revolution – plus the doubtless unmissable Der Reise (rough trans: The Journey) for fans of those pesky Nazi zombies. Also included are a bunch of new Achievements to strive for, attain after much toil and tears and brag about interminably thereafter. We’ll get ‘em long before you, obviously.

Map Pack 1 has been downloaded over two million times to date, and #2 has long since exceeded the million mark. As such we’ve every reason to believe that this latest outing will be every bit as essential as its predecessors. It’s yours for a modest 800 MS Points – or the Sterling equivalent of $9.99 for PS3 gamers. At that crazy price can you afford not to snap it up immediately? Er, that’ll be a definite ‘no’.

One final thing for iPhone/iPod Touch owners – Activision has just launched the ‘Call of Duty: World at War Companion’. This freebie keeps users up to date with the latest CoD: WaW news as well as monitor their linked gaming stats, those of their chums, global leaderboards and so on. There’s a free “Shi No Numa’ ringtone too. Head to the App Store to check it out and keep your fingers crossed there’s something similar for Modern Warfare 2 in the pipeline soon. Over and Out...
