Blink and you missed it; 325,000 sold in two days makes Wii the fastest selling console in European history.

Folks will still be cursing Wii shortages in five European languages, but you can’t blame Nintendo for celebrating again this morning. By selling 325,000 consoles within 48 hours Wii has become the fastest selling console Europe has ever known. In terms of software, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess went to 74 percent of customers, and more than 50 percent grabbed Wii Play. Nintendo claims that daily shipments of Wii consoles and games are arriving across Europe to meet continued demand.

Meanwhile Nintendo DS also sold in record numbers last week, shifting 515,000 across Europe, beating sales records of any console within the same time frame. So our continent has clearly gone insane for Nintendo, but it will be even more impressive if Nintendo can hold on to this kind of momentum.
