PS3 Ghostbusters patched [PS3]

Thursday August 27, 11:47 AM PS3 Ghostbusters patched

Definition of comedy: A PlayStation 3 game that has to be fixed in order to match the graphical prowess of its Xbox 360 counterpart.

The game in question is Ghostbusters: The Video Game, which is still a PS3 exclusive in the UK. Now, there’s no real reason why the PlayStation 3 version should be any less visually splendid than the Xbox 360 outing. Nevertheless that’s precisely the case – the PS3 game suffers from lower-res graphics and a number of ‘Freeze’ issues.

All such annoyances are addressed by a new patch from Atari today, which brings the visuals up to par with the Xbox 360 game and effectively thaws any freezes. The patch also fixes several audio/subtitle mismatches, properly unlocks the ‘Pay Day’ and ‘Capture All Most Wanted Ghosts’ trophies and sorts out any problems that occur when American and European players attempt to play each other online.

It’s all for the good of the game, no doubt – make sure you update as requested. It’s a shame that such problems had to occur in the first place, though. Could it be that the PS3 game was rushed through development just so Sony could claim the minor prize of a timed exclusive?

Which reminds us, the Xbox 360 version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game is released on October 23rd. No patches required.
