Two-up for Xbox LIVE download tomorrow, including another outing for Sam & Max and an intriguing little something called Axel & Pixel.

Videogame sitcom legends, Sam & Max, need little introduction. ‘Beyond Time and Space’ is all five episodes of their second season stuffed into one keenly-priced bundle – just 1600 MS Points (£13.60) for this dog and rabbit-based fun-fest that series fans will gobble up in no time.

We’re a bit more interested in Axel & Pixel from Silver Wish Games, though – if only because it immediately puts in mind of the awesome ‘Samorost’ by fellow Czech studio, Amanita Design. The game itself follows the exploits of painter Axel and his clever dog Pixel as they embark on an adventure through a “surreal and dangerous dream world”. Point n’ click action is the order of the day, but what really sets this game apart are the nifty hand-assembled backgrounds built from everyday flora and found objects, upon which our heroes are effectively animated. The soundtrack is pleasingly ambient too.
