Nintendo’s in-house gaming legend, Shigeru Miyamoto, has dropped a massive hint that he’s working on a cats game for DS. This is yet another revelation from Nintendo’s recent investor call. Miyamoto was quizzed about which project was getting the largest share of his attention at the moment, at which point Satoru Iwata jumped in with, "Miyamoto could reveal Nintendo's future software developments, so we ask him not to speak about his interests." This was confirmed by Shiggsy, who promptly ignored his boss’ instruction and went on to announce that he’s working on a couple of DS projects right now – a game that’s played in the home and another that’s designed to be enjoyed in public spaces. Rounding off his comments, Miyamoto casually mentioned that: "Also, I've recently been caring for cats. That is all." And Iwata-san was even more tantalising, adding: "He just gave a big hint." Of course, this could be little more than a couple of Nintendo bigwigs sharing a joke at the expense of gullible journalists like us. But we think not, and Nintencats has just got to be a reality. We can almost picture it too – turn the game on, watch as your cuddly kitty buddy sleeps motionless for 10 hours, wakes up, scratches the furniture, mews pitifully for food, leaves a stinking deposit in the litter tray, goes back to sleep for another 10 hours, rinse and repeat. Yup, sounds like a plan to us...
