Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix prices announced [X360]

Friday November 21, 10:29 AM Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix prices announced

Ahead of the unalloyed glory that is Street Fighter IV (diarise February 20 immediately!) Capcom has revealed pricing details for the game’s slightly less glamorous and lengthily-titled forebear, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

SSF2THDR, as we’re going to call it since typing the whole thing makes our fingers hurt, arrives on Xbox LIVE Arcade next Wednesday. It will certainly delight battle-hardened veterans of the Street Fighter series, with its redrawn (and larger) sprites and finely rebalanced gameplay. Newcomers looking to hone their Street Fighting skills in advance of SFIV’s arrival may find the action a little unforgiving, though - especially when playing an opponent who knows what he/she is doing.

Pricing, then, and Capcom/MS have decided that 1200 MS Points (£10.20) is a fair asking price. We think that’s a lot for what is only a reworked and slightly ancient 2D arcade game at heart - the also excellent Samurai Shodown II costs just 800 Points in comparison. But, y’know, what price arcade perfection?

And so to the PS3 where, perhaps unsurprisingly, Sony Europe has yet to confirm price/release date details. All we have to go on is November 25th, $14.99 and the promise/threat of ‘standard international price adjustments when it eventually arrives’ as specified on the Capcom Unity blog. Eventually arrives? Are they attempting to prepare us for a long wait or something? Hopefully not and fingers crossed the Euro release follows the US schedule. We’ll let you know if that’s not going to be the case.
