MAG dev diary impresses [PS3]

Thursday June 18, 7:19 AM MAG dev diary impresses

If the thought of a 256-player online military shooter overloads your joy circuits, just wait until you’ve seen the all-new footage of MAG, on PS3, in action.

It’s all part of a first developer diary that’s on show over at the official European PlayStation blog. Need convincing? Let’s just say the game is looking even prettier than it did at its E3 unveiling, with visuals that certainly wouldn’t embarrass the CoD series and scenes of large-scale skirmishes in progress as squads of players parachute into the melee, trundle into battle in tanks, sneak around blasting the seven shades of shine-ola out of each other and, er, everything. Good grief!

Meanwhile developers, Zipper Interactive, reveal more about the backstory. The action is set in the ‘Shadow War’ some 25 years in the future, where superpower governments have lost the trust of the people and two private armies have risen, ostensibly to protect the public but secretly with an eye on world domination. Not that you’ll be worrying about such plot details when 128 players on the opposing team have just drawn a bead on your candy behind...

Anyway, if MAG is even half as decent as it currently looks it’ll be double-good fun when it launches later this year, November hopefully. Check the new video out with extreme prejudice at http://blog.eu.playstation.com.
