Publishers generally try their hardest to make sure that you, the news-hungry games monster, do not find out about forthcoming releases and new developments until they’re good and ready. Fortunately they usually fail in such endeavours, thanks to the tireless efforts of the interweb’s fanboy fraternity. Their latest finds are a couple of recent Japanese trademark registrations. Both are potentially huge too, and none comes bigger than ‘Wii Fit Plus’. The ‘Plus’ bit is certainly new, even if a sequel to the trillion-selling home exerciser has been grist to the rumour mill for ages now. Put another way Nintendo would be nuts if it didn’t capitalise on Wii Fit’s success, so we reckon this one’s kosher. Anyway, this is the first time the new name has been spotted and there’s even a logo to go with it (pictured). Next we have ‘Art Academy’. No specifics or logos to show, alas, although speculation is already rife that it may be some kind of follow-up to Mario Paint, a fun masterpiece ‘ em up which last graced the Super NES in 1992. Fingers crossed for this – painting with the Remote could be a hoot, moreso the music creation tools using the Wii’s advanced processing power. More on both from E3, with any luck.
