Comical bruise ‘em up, ‘PAIN’, has been a big and well-deserved hit on the PlayStation Network. On Blu-Ray disc too, if Sony has anything to do with it... Yup, PAIN, in pretty much all its forms, is heading to the high street in a physical format. That might seem like a somewhat retrogressive move in this age of digital distribution. However, we guess that Sony knows what it’s doing, and it certainly makes sense from a purely economic perspective. It’s super-cheap, y’see – expect to pay no more than €24.99/£19.99, says the official PS3 Blog. For that modest outlay you don’t just get the original Downtown map, but also the Movie Studios, Abusement Park and Sore Spots expansions. On top of that there’s every character – Jarvis, Tati, Ginger and Cookie – pretty much all the ‘crazy’ game modes released so far and the PAIN labs, where beta-style levels from developers Idol Minds will be released for free on a regular basis. PAIN PS3 is unleashed next Wednesday, June 25th. It’s unlikely to trouble the uppermost reaches of the charts, but we doubt you’ll find so much bang – and crash and wallop – for your buck elsewhere. Check it out.
