Read that headline again if you like, but it won’t render the frankly incredible factoid that Wii Fit is this week’s number one on the all format/full price chart any more believable.

Nope, we’re not sure how Nintendo has managed such a feat either, especially since a cursory trawl of the major online retailers reveals that the lifestyle accessory/electronic doorstop is out of stock everywhere, as per usual. But Chart Track’s figures are built from retail actual sales so somebody somewhere has been lucky enough to find the game during the week ending July 12th – was it you? It was, wasn’t it? Let’s have a go when you’re finished. Please!

In truth, though, Nintendo has been able to increase stock by some 60% in the last week, which is fortunate since they’ve been marketing the heck out of the product recently and are currently engaged in some kind of awareness-building nationwide tour. So fair play to them, eh, let’s hope they can keep this up for longer than the Wii Fit promotional teams are on the road. And happy hunting if you’re still looking for a copy.

Elsewhere on this week’s countdown Nintendo’s gain has also been their slight loss, with the brilliant Smash Bros: Brawl knocked off the top spot and down to three. Thereafter we say hello to the actually not bad Kung Fu Panda, who wobbles into the top ten at seven, and cheery-bye-bye to Grand Theft Auto IV, which slips quietly out of the back door to this week’s eleven, slyly nicking your wallet off the sideboard in the process.
