Spore - the biggest, most-hyped PC game since flip knows when - is not this week's number one. What's going on out there...? Instead Electronic Arts has managed the feat of knocking itself off the top of all format/full price chart, replacing Tiger Woods 09 with dumb-but-fun blaster Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, while poor old Spore lurks in third place. We daresay that EA won’t be shedding too many tears at making a clean sweep of the top three chart placings, though. After that minor excitement pretty much everything else in this week’s top ten is on the slide. Guitar Hero III and Wall-E are O.U.T, Too Human teeters to ten and everything else except Sims 2: Apartment life and Lego Indy stumbles a place or two in the wrong direction. Meanwhile it’s disappointing to see that Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise couldn’t manage a more spectacular debut than number 16 - and the DS version, Pocket Paradise, fared even less impressively at this week’s 37. C’est la vie, eh, but who would have guessed that the combination gardening and animal husbandry could be so unappealing? While you ponder that one here’s how the all format/full price top ten looks for the week ending September 6th. 1.
