Microsoft toots its trumpet [X360]

Thursday April 17, 10:21 AM

Reports of the Xbox 360’s imminent demise are greatly exaggerated, it seems. Indeed, following the recent price-cutting activity the Xbox’s sales have doubled across Europe. Er, wow!

And that makes the Xbox 360 the undisputed leader in the next-gen console stakes, says Microsoft. Apparently it has a 42% share of the European market in terms of life-to-date revenue (what?) and nearly twice as many games bought for each console sold – that’s 7 per Xbox 360 versus 3.8 per PS3 and 3.5 per Wii. Have it!

Then we note, with an arched eyebrow, that Microsoft seems a little shy about providing exact sales figures (or details about how they compares to the competition). And is anyone really surprised that a console that’s been on the market twice as long as its peers has sold twice as many games?

Ach, but we love our dear old ‘Box and it really does have the biggest selection of the best next-gen games, so hats off and manly handshakes all round, eh…
