Nintendo Japan is launching a new Wii Channel that’s designed to help players get the most out of their Wii Fit workout. The Body Check channel, as it’s apparently known, is a joint venture with NEC, Panasonic and Hitachi. In short it monitors users’ Wii Fit (and DS pedometer) performance - or appalling lack thereof - and feeds back with bespoke, advanced training tips. Nintendo’s partners will also send the data to various external agencies, the idea being to improve communication between the health pros and average joes, like us. Except that it won’t be us. At least not in the foreseeable future, since Nintendo, predictably, says it has no plans to roll the new channel out in Europe. However, with Wii Fit still selling out as soon as stock hit’s the shelves and currently topping the UK games chart we wouldn’t be at all surprised if they change their minds. Meantime the Body Check Channel is scheduled to roll out in Japan next month.
