The December issue of Official PlayStation Magazine has named Killzone 3 as one of the “Secret Games of 2010”. Ka-boom! Killzone 2 is the PS3’s pre-eminent shooter, so it’s a pretty safe bet that a sequel would be scheduled at some stage in the future. But few would have suspected that, as the Official Mag reports, the game is already “deep in development” and is apparently prepped for launch sometime next year. Sony is keeping characteristically quiet about the whole matter, of course. But maybe they’ve already allowed too much to be said? Having worked on Official magazines in the past we can vouch that things are tightly controlled by the licensor and that big announcements do not appear from nowhere – especially when they concern first-party software releases. In other words there may be more to this than just rumour and the wild imaginings of an overworked staff writer. Either way, Killzone 3 is just one of three previously unannounced titles listed for 2010. The same article also mentions an Insomniac podcast that hints at Resistance 3 and insider info indicating an incoming sequel for Call of Duty: World at War. We’re keeping ‘em crossed that OPM is right on all three counts.
