The Kojima Productions teaser site has been refreshed with yet another countdown clock, this time announcing that we have a mere 108 hours to wait until the next update. Sigh... What’s new this time? Well, the thunderstorm of previous updates is now kicking off in full, noisy effect, with lightning flashing every couple of seconds and a new selection of letters appearing intermittently. This time we have a 5 (or could be a ‘S’),P,R,E,3 and e flashing orange for a milli-second and cycling randomly. And then, just as our arms begin to fall to our sides in abject boredom, the grim visage of Metal Gear legend ‘Big Boss’ appears. Check him! Needless to say this has confirmed what everybody has thought all the way along – that Kojima-san is preparing some kind of Metal Gear Solid game. The code would seem to suggest that more will be revealed at E3 too. But what, exactly? Obviously we’re all hoping for a fifth outing in the series, although others have interpreted a new Japanese press ad as suggesting it might be an Orange Box-style compilation of previous outings instead. Then again it could just as easily be neither. Or both! The current countdown ends on Sunday, when we fully expect to be teased again, at least until the E3 kicks off on June 2nd. http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next/index.html is where the action’s at until then.
