After trading places for, ooh - a whole seven days - Call of Duty: World at War has reclaimed the top spot on the year-end charts and FIFA 09 is back in second place. This one’s set to run and run. Otherwise the all formats/full price top ten for the week ending December 27th looks a lot like last week’s. And that means there’s nothing especially remarkable or interesting to talk about except for the minor resurgence of Far Cry 2 and Gears of War 2, both of which are up five places to re-enter at nine and ten respectively. Fascinating stuff, no? Well, no, not especially. Which is all the more fortunate that there’s plenty to report lower down the top 40. For instance Wii Fit takes a dramatic tumble from eight last week to 24 on this week‘s countdown - and at a time of year when it‘s most needed too! Meanwhile Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock has leapfrogged from 36 to 14 and Mirror’s Edge is up a similarly healthy 12 places to number 15. There’s probably something clever and Le Parkour-related to say about that, but in the post-Xmas brain-haze we’re damned if we can think of it. After that it looks like you guys have been hitting the sales, with low-placed re-entries for Saint’s Row 2 at 33, Midnight Club: Los Angeles at 34, Lego Indy at 38, the terrific/horrific Left4Dead at 39 and Fable II bringing up the rear at 40. Quality titles one and all. However none is likely to trouble the top ten since this little lot are clogging it up. New games for 09 please!: 1.
