The people have spoken, and they have deemed that Command & Conquer 4 shall henceforth carry the suffix “Tiberian Twilight”. Catchy, huh. Huh? You’d better like the new name. Or at least don’t complain about it too loudly when the game launches. Y’see the new handle wasn’t devised by C&C4’s developers or a panel of faceless EA marketing men. Instead it was chosen because it came top of a recent poll over at the game’s official website – over 15,000 of you contributed your ideas, by all accounts. “Our sophisticated fans are a tremendous community with a great love for the series. We really wanted to involve them in Command & Conquer 4 – what better way than to have them create the title?” says C&C4’s lead producer Mike Glosecki. “We were blown away by all the creative names they came up with but the most popular selection, Tiberian Twilight, seemed the best fit, embodying that the saga is coming to a powerful and epic conclusion.” Yup, that’s right – this will be the last game in the 15 year-old series. We feel very old even saying that. This fourth and final outing promises to go out with a bang, though. EA Los Angeles are talking up a “multitude of innovations”, including mobile bases, persistent player progression, a 3-class system and an objective-based 5 vs 5 multiplayer option. Compelling new gameplay variations and live-action links are also part of the package. It looks like they’ve given the graphics a slight polish too. It all sounds peachy to us.
