The sequel to MTV Games and EA’s smash hit will debut on Xbox 360 this September, other versions to follow soon after. Yes, although the first Rock Band only came out in May, they’re already talking about the sequel… out this September! It’s all new and improved, so our cynical advice would be to just wait for the new one. Three months away, so not long. Rock Band 2 is compatible with all current download songs for the version released about a month ago. If you only just went out and bought the original and have started downloading tracks you won’t need to buy them again, so not a complete waste of money. There will be new songs to download for Rock Band 2 of course, goes without saying. Not really a new feature. We guess the reason for going early on Xbox 360 is the online association thanks to the strong Xbox LIVE service. This will be put to good use in Rock Band 2 with “major new and dynamic online modes that will connect the entire Rock Band community in more ways than ever before both locally and globally.” So new gameplay modes for online, basically. Like never before. Most intriguing is the hint of new instruments alongside improved guitar and drum accessories. Could this mean keyboards? Perhaps. But aren’t you better off just learning to play the piano? Tomorrow we look forward to brining you news of Rock Band 3, out in October.
