The seemingly unstoppable FIFA 10 has kept Uncharted 2: Among Thieves off the top of the all format’s/full price charts. We guess this changes the betting on the Xmas number one somewhat…

Question is, if a game as fully awesome and universally-lauded as Uncharted 2 can’t unseat FIFA 10, well, what can? Modern Warfare 2 is most-fancied to put the brakes on EA’s sporting juggernaut, although we’re beginning to wonder now. And it’s not even as if Uncharted 2 sold poorly in its opening weekend either. Indeed the new game has already achieved more than its predecessor, Drake’s Fortune, which only peaked at 22.

Nope, Uncharted 2’s failure to take top honours is less about quality and more to do with FIFA’s bewildering potential – sales are 54% down on last week’s total (and last week’s were 64% down on the week before), but FIFA 10 still has the legs to see off all comers with almost worrying ease. Chart Track reports that the latest outing has just sold a million in the UK; doing so three weeks earlier than FIFA 09 managed the same feat. In other words, we should have seen this coming!

Otherwise, it’s been a good week for new games, the majority of which are clustered into the top ten – the aforementioned Uncharted 2 at two, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (another Xmas number one contender) sliding in at five, Brutal Legend making a suitably noisy entrance at seven and the newly-revived Fallout 3 package at 10. Pro Evo Soccer 2010 should stir things up on next week’s countdown; however this week’s looks a lot like this:
