Charts: What the Halo's going on...? [X360]

Tuesday October 16, 09:35 AM

Well, it's been one week at the top of the all format/full price charts for Halo 3 and it's been on the slide ever since - what was that you were saying about 'cultural phenomenon', Mr Gates...?

Marketing phenomenon, more like, but don't get us started on that one all over again. In any case Halo 3's still very much in evidence in the top ten, it's just that its place has been usurped for a second week running by the real cultural phenomenon of the bunch, FIFA 08. Think about it - EA launches a new iteration ever year and every year it is bought by the sea-going containership load, ensuring that the game not only spends weeks in the top ten but months yo-yoing up and down the chart as a whole. FIFA might not be able to claim any blockbuster-beating launch week records but it'll be here long after memories of Master Chief's doomed travails have faded. Here endeth the rant...

Moving on there's not too much action on the charts to report this week, save for the reappearance of Resistance: Fall of Man at 8, Heavenly Sword back from the dead at 10 and the expected debut of Project Gotham Racing 4 which makes this week's number two - y'see, even the mighty PGR4 can't knock FIFA off the top! Anyway, here's how it all looks for the week ending October 13th:

1. FIFA '08 (1)
2. PGR4 (NE)
3. Halo 3 (2)
4. Ratatouille (7)
5. MySims (4)
6. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 (5)
7. Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights (3)
8. Resistance: Fall of Man (16)
9. Skate (10)
10. Heavenly Sword (34)
