A Capcom marketing man has dropped the strongest hint yet that Resident Evil is on the Wii comeback trail. Intrigued? Oh yes!

The chap in question is associate product marketing manager Matt Dahlgren and, while he wasn’t exactly singing like a caged canary, he did tell those gathered at a recent Canadian press event: "(Resident Evil 5) was made for the Xbox 360 and PS3. That being said, Nintendo Wii fans will be very happy very soon."

And there’s more. The top story at Capcom’s official blog (www.Capcom-unity.com) talks excitedly about a Resident Evil 5 launch event in the US where, among other themed entertainments, there will be “new game announcements”.

That all seems pretty unambiguous to us - Resident Evil is heading back to Wii and, with any luck, we’ll be finding more out about it by the end of this week. A Resi 5 variant of some description would be awesome, if perhaps a touch improbable. But, hey, we can all dream can’t we…?
