Ubisoft and Penguin have announced a dead-cert for immediate inclusion in the canon of great literature – Assassin’s Creed: The Book.

Or Assassin’s Creed Renaissance, to call it by its proper name. The action follows young nobleman, Ezio Auditore Da Firenze, as he embarks on an epic quest to fight for justice, eradicate corruption, restore his family’s good name and learn the ways of the assassin. Yep, it’s the game’s storyline turned into a novel.

That means you can expect cameos from Leonardo Da Vinci, Niccolo Machiavelli and others interesting from the same period. We suspect that historical accuracy and fascinating insight into the lives and minds of these great men take second place to Ezio’s murderous exploits, though.

Assassin’s Creed Renaissance is penned by Oliver Bowden, and is just another facet of Ubisoft’s ongoing ambition to take the AC franchise beyond the limitations of a mere video game. Check the ‘Assassin’s Creed Lineage’ series of movie shorts on Youtube for more evidence of that. Be sure to check the book out when it’s published on November 26th too. Or, if you’re a keen student of 15th century Italian art and political philosophy, maybe don’t.
