EA, MTV and Harmonix have devised another way to exploit your abiding love of everything that is FAB – a Two Microphone Pack for The Beatles: Rock Band on PS3. The new pack features a pair of wired SingStar mics that are not the remotest bit vintage in their appearance, and a copy of the game itself. Which you’ve probably already got, of course. So that’s a good deal for gamers who only want to sing the Beatles hits, but what are we looking at for the full Beatles: Rock Band set-up? The big box comprises drums, Macca’s Hofner bass, a single mic + stand and a copy of the game for around £180. Then it’s £85 apiece for the George Harrison’s Gretsch Duo Jet axe and John Lennon’s Rickenbacker 325. Oh, and not forgetting those extra mics – three part harmonies are key to The Beatles’ sound, after all. Hmm, that’ll be the best part of £400. Oof! Thriftier Beatles: Rock Band die-hards are advised to seek out the regular SingStar microphones instead – £29.99 or thereabouts a pair, and wireless with it.
