Tim Burton inspired visions of Alice in Wonderland videogames are in the works for Wii, DS and Windows PC for release in 2010. Disney Interactive Studios has announced three videogame adaptations of Alice in Wonderland, based on the upcoming film directed by Tim Burton. The big screen event will star Mia Wasikowska as Alice, with Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter adopting famous character roles. As with the film, the games take place years after the original Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Class stories, penned by Lewis Carroll. Players will find themselves on a journey through ‘Underland’ befriended by the The gameplay has been described as puzzle-solving, based on the unique abilities of each support character. For example the Mad Hatter can access unseen worlds, while the Cheshire Cat can vanish and re-appear objects at will. Both Wii and PC versions are said to be similar, requiring that players collect “impossible ideas” to unlock Underland’s secrets, ultimately restoring it to Wonderland. On DS it’ll pan out like an action role-playing game, but if you have a DSi you’ll be able to use the camera to unlock secrets. There are also iPhone and iTouch applications underway, with a promo download planned or this December. All versions of Alice in Wonderland will be released early 2010, to coincide with the film release on or around 5 March in Disney Digital 3D.
