Media Molecule’s excellent creation, LittleBigPlanet, might not have had the success it deserves but, as Sony reveals at CES 09, it hasn’t exactly been an abject failure either.

Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show Sony US bossman Kaz Hirai revealed that the game has racked up over 1. 3 million unique user accounts, which rather suggests that the game itself has sold at least that many copies worldwide. That really is pretty good for a brand new gaming franchise.

More impressive, though, is the staggering number of user-created levels posted so far - over 300,000 to date which, we’re told, would take more than two years of constant gameplay to plough through. Assuming you’ve got that sort of time on your hands, that is.
