Katamari rolls onto PS3 [PS3]

Wednesday March 25, 10:59 AM Katamari rolls onto PS3

The world’s favourite rolling-random-objects-into-an-unfeasibly-large-ball game is back, and its sights are set on the Playstation 3.

We’re talking about Katamari Damacy, of course - truly there can be no other - and it’s being worked up for Sony’s next-gen wonder, complete with shiny new visuals, remixed classic choons and a brand new name - Katamari Damacy: TRIBUTE.

We’re not sure what the ‘TRIBUTE’ bit actually means, or why it’s in capitals. Best guesses are that this is some kind of partial revisitation of previous games in the series. Meanwhile the announcement in Japan’s Famitsu magazine suggests that the in-game item count has been dramatically increased, at least one of the stages in is black and white and there’s a new gameplay mode to look forward to. On top of that the whole game plays in stunning 1080p resolution and, as the Japanese text repeatedly emphasizes, it’s all “very beautiful”. What can we say, except SOLD!

Katamari Damacy: TRIBUTE is out later this year. Damn right we’ll be back with more…
