Get your Rocks off [X360]

Thursday July 16, 6:56 AM Get your Rocks off

Another week, another 22 slices of monumental riffage for Guitar Hero 5 – and all exclusively revealed by Yahoo! Games. Tell you what, it’s not easy being this good...

Okay, what’s in today’s bag? Hmm, once again it’s a veritable smorgasbord – yeah, that’s the word – of choons ancient and relatively modern; heads-down hard-rocking and, well, eminently dad-friendly. Yup, ‘rock’ is a very broad church indeed.

Some bona-fide anthems in today’s roster, though. Like it or not (and we don’t, particularly) we defy you not to singalonga Bon Jovi as they opine “You Give Love a Bad Name”. Elsewhere the Neanderthal chug of The Sword’s “Maiden Mother & Crone” makes Black Sabbath sound like they were playing on kazoos and Swanee whistles all these years. Then there’s “Du Hast” from Rammstein, which is an aural assault by any measure – this time with power tools. Elton John’s pleasantly toe-tapping contribution couldn’t provide a starker contrast.

So that’s 46 out of 85 song setlist announced in advance of Guitar Hero 5’s September 1st release – be sure to tune in next week for another slab. Meantime plug your ears for this lot:

Attack! Attack! - “You And Me”
