Microsoft has just announced that the current 20GB Xbox 360 will be replaced with a more capacious 60GB model, and at no extra cost. How d’you like the taste of those apples, Sony? The new 60GB unit rumbles triumphantly into retail this Friday (15th) and, unlike its PS3 counterpart, has not been stripped of any pre-existing useful features. The same old £199.99 price tag is retained too, which should make the decision between rival consoles slightly easier to make for fence-sitting newcomers. Or does it? £199.99 certainly gets you a splendid multi-functional machine that’s more than capable of playing the biggest games at the highest resolutions and that is allied to what is still the best online community service. However the 80GB PS3 is wireless out of the box, comes bundled with the new Dualshock 3 controller, also functions as a top-notch Blu-ray player, is a damned sight quieter in operation and, of course, has 20 more of those all-important Gigabytes. Is that worth an extra £100? Ach, you decide...
