Kodu goes LIVE [X360]

Wednesday July 1, 11:04 AM Kodu goes LIVE

LittleBigPlanet it most certainly ain’t, but 360-based game-creation tool, Kodu, is a fraction of the price and it’s just launched on Xbox LIVE.

Kodu is unattractively described online as a “new visual programming language” . Which all sounds a bit overly earnest for something that’s actually designed to be simple enough for children to use, with bold icons, straightforward menus, logical programming actions and everything input via the 360 pad. Users can share their colourful creations with others online, and everything is presented in proper 3D – i.e. unlike LittleBigPlanet.

It’s a bit of a shame, then, that Kodu is nowhere near as easy on the eye as its PS3 counterpart. However the giveaway price probably might make up for such shortcomings – 400 MS Points, or £3.40. A bargain.

Kodu comes bundled with several pieces of pre-built content, which should give you an idea of what’s achievable. There’s a free demo for the fence-sitters too. Go check it out. You’ll find it lurking within the Community Games section.
