The geniuses at games trade mag, MCV, have been dabbling with their abacuses and have worked out just how many units the PS3 Slim sold in the UK in its first week – 40,000! That’s good going, eh? It should be a pretty accurate indication too – Sony had stated that the Slim sold 20% fewer boxes than the PS2 Slim in its opening week, and the BBC had pegged the latter at 50,000. The rest is all pretty straightforward maths. No disrespect to MCV’s calculator-prodders intended. Well, so much for Sony’s efforts to blind us with statistics instead of hard numbers. But that was then, this is now and the Slim is selling like billy-o – it has performed nearly as well in France and has had a barnstorming launch in Japan, where it’s already shifted 150,000 units. Furthermore, we guarantee that you’re all going to want one when Uncharted 2: Among Thieves launches. You’ll see...
