One of this year’s worst kept secrets is now official. LEGO Rock Band will be tearing it up on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS by the end of this year. Guitar Hero gives you Metallica, but Rock Band is aiming a more family-oriented experience with LEGO characters clicked into place. Announced for ‘2009’, LEGO Rock Band will offer far-fetched venues based on the LEGO universe, and freedom to create your own avatars out of the famous colourful bricks and accessories a la LEGO “build-and-play”. The creators of the LEGO series on console, TT Games, have been working alongside the Rock Band guys at Harmonix to produce LEGO Rock Band for publisher Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment. It is being billed as “a wild journey to rock stardom” in which you’ll “Build a Band and Rock the Universe”! Your troupe of budding rock ’n’ rollers start out playing cute local venues but aspire to performances taking place in galaxies far, far away… or something like that. In keeping with the family theme (i.e. no swearing or sex or nudity or Satan) the track listing is strictly sugar and spice: Blur: “Song 2” Existing Rock Band peripherals are compatible of course, but at this stage we wouldn’t put it past Warner Bros to issue a special edition boxed set with LEGO-style guitars and drums. Now that would truly rock!
