FIFA 10 is officially the fastest-selling sports game of all time. It’s Electronic Arts' biggest European launch ever too, having shifted 1.7 million copies in the space of a week. Game on! None of this comes as a surprise to EA Sports prez Peter Moore, who crows: “We were confident that FIFA 10 would be a hit, and this week fans across Europe have shown just how much they love this game.” “We are incredibly proud of FIFA 10 and this kick-off for great, authentic football competition.” Slightly odd use of English aside, FIFA 10 has other stunning stats to report. Not even seven days from launch and 10 million games have been played online, with 155,000 gaming over the wires simultaneously at peak times. Actually, make that 155,001. It all adds up to a spectacular launch for FIFA 10 and a fast-track straight to the top of the all-formats charts. No doubt it’ll haunt the top ten for months to come – i.e long after the likes of Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2 have been and gone. For all that FIFA 10 is still not the biggest UK launch ever. That honour belongs to Grand Theft Auto IV. We wonder what that says about us as a Nation?
