Wii Flab!

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, so they say, and the path towards greater health and fitness is littered with desperate punters scouring the high streets to locate a copy of Wii Fit, using it for a couple of weeks, getting bored, giving up in their droves and nipping out for a sly pint and a Micky D’s in self commiseration instead.

Well, that’s what it looks like according to a Japanese survey published in Kotaku today. The IT Media poll sampled 1000 Wii Fit owners with the straightforward question ‘Do you use Wii Fit faithfully every day’? The answers probably won’t come as much of a surprise:

• I record my progress faithfully every day – 22%
• Maybe once every 2 or 3 days – 6%
• Once a week – 6%
• Stopped using after purchase – 64%

Presumably the missing 2% were too worn out after lugging the hefty box back from the shops to repond? And 64%? In all honesty we’re surprised it’s that low! But will news of quittage on such a massive scale deter punters yet to obtain a copy in their fruitless, frustrating quest? It’s doubtful. But as long as they’re pounding the streets the pounds’ll drop off. Maybe that was the point all along...?
