Nintendo has just announced a brand new colourway for the dear old Wii. It’s BLACK, plain and simple.

Very seasonal, right? Okay, perhaps not, but the new livery surely makes a change to the clinical (i.e. dull) white that’s been the sole choice for consumers up to now. If the Wii gets itself a bad-boy image as a result of all this Nintendo only has itself to blame.

So Black is the new White as far as the Wii is concerned. Interested parties and Children of the Night will only be able to lay hands on the new unit as part of a ‘limited edition’ bundle, itself comprising a Wii Remote, Nunchuk and MotionPlus, all in black too. Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort are also chucked in, alas not repackaged to match.

The new Black pack launches in the UK on November 6th. Mainland Europe follows on the 20th, when Nintendo will make a range of black controllers and accessories more widely available. All things considered we want ‘em all...
