This is the Royal Wii

Friday May 22, 7:50 AM This is the Royal Wii

Games publisher THQ has delivered a gold-plated Nintendo Wii to Buckingham Palace to promote “BIG Family Games”, released today.

You’re looking at a one-of-a-kind Wii here folks – now property of The Queen of England. The console was couriered over to Buckingham Palace from THQ yesterday afternoon but so far there has been no comment from Her Royal Highness, although plenty of noise from THQ’s marketing guys. Along the lines of: “BIG Family Games is the ultimate Wii game to get all family members, from grandparents to young children, playing together. The Royal Family is arguably the most important family in the country so we felt that they had to have a copy of the new game,” and, “We thought that Her Majesty the Queen wouldn't want to play on any old console, so an extra-special gold one was commissioned. We hope that she and the rest of the Royal Family enjoy the game!"

Jolly good.

Since there are no reports in the morning news of low-flying gold-plated Wiis being hurled at tourists from the old Queen’s bedroom window at BP, we can only assume that the Royal Family has been enjoying the gift. That’ll her Bank Holiday sorted then. God Save the Queen, and long may She have fresh batteries.
