A downloadable treat incoming for PS3 owners. If by ‘treat’ you mean an old school-looking platform/puzzler that lulls you in with seemingly simplistic gameplay then scrambles your synapses, loosens your already fragile grip on reality and tears a big-ass hole in the very fabric of the space-time continuum. Or something... Yup, Braid, the game beloved of beard-stroking pseuds the world over, is on its way to the PlayStation Network, and that’s pretty big news in our book. Gameplay, such as we can barely describe it, involves negotiating a collection of apparently straightforward platform levels, spooling your character’s movements backwards and forwards in time to collect jigsaw pieces and advance towards an ever more perplexing conclusion. It’s all delivered in a pleasingly painterly style and accompanied by a storyline that‘ll have you reaching for the Steven Hawking for a little light reading. You’ll have to tell us what happens at the end too, ‘cos we never got that far. As with all things PS3 and Sony-related there’s nothing in the way of date or pricing information. In fact the only evidence of the game’s existence right now is a listing on the German software ratings board website. No matter, though, the Braid is definitely coming to PS3 and that’s good enough for us. We’d hazard a guess at a release this side of Xmas and a price in line with its Xbox 360 counterpart – call it a tenner. More concrete details soon.
