Nintendo Japan has officially unveiled a larger-screened DSi and it’s launching this side of Xmas. Told you so! The DSi LL, as it is clunkily known, is designed with some of the unit’s secondary functions in mind. Viewing the internet, using it as a music player, reading books on it, doing Sudoku etcetera will be easier thanks to the new model’s 4.2 inch screens. The DSi LL comes with two touch pens too – one long and fat, one short and thin – and has two brain-training games and the DS Easy Dictionary pre-installed. Otherwise the DSi LL is just a bigger version of its immediate predecessor, albeit with a couple of new colour options to tempt the target market of discerning adults – that’s Wine Red, Dark Brown and bog-standard Natural White in case you’re interested. The DSi LL debuts in Japan on November 21st at ¥20,000 (approx £134). There are no plans for a US or European launch just yet, but it’s surely coming in 2010. Until then Nintendo has just posted a dedicated website where you can compare and contrast the new and older models and slather over the tasteful new colourways as needs be. It’s all at www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/dsiLL/. Check it out…
