Near perfect score in this week’s biggest-selling Japanese games magazine for the return to form of Nintendo’s brightest star.
If a gaming bible were to exist, and released in weekly instalments, this would be Japan’s ‘Famitsu’ magazine. Published every Thursday, Famitsu has been the last word on videogames for 20 years. Admittedly this last word is in Japanese so not much use to most of us here, but you get the idea.
Today Famitsu is hailing Super Mario Galaxy as “the game anyone can play”, its review teams has awarded the game 38 out of 40. Although the game might look difficult, says one of the staff, it’s something that can be enjoyed instinctively. Another editor says SMG recalls the excitement of playing Mario 64 for the first time.
So if you thought Mario 64 sucked, well, forget it. Otherwise Wii owners have something monumental to look out for on 16 November.
