Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was always a very movie-esque gaming experience. However, developers Naughty Dog have taken this notion to dramatic new lengths with the sequel. We’re talking Metal Gear-rivalling but, mercifully, not quite equalling sections of “cinematics” within Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. In other words, the dreaded, non-playable cut-scenes – around 90 minutes of them, in fact. Ugh! This, and more, is revealed in an entertaining chin-wag with Naughty Dog co-prez Evan Wells over at the official US PlayStation Blog (blog.us.playstation.com). Fortunately there’s a consolation for those of you already bored by the thought of twiddling your thumbs while the high-octane fun is halted time and time again by sections you have no control over, as Wells happily reveals: “The single player campaign is definitely going to be longer than Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.” Get that? And Drake’s Fortune was no blink-and-you’ve-missed-it shorty either. In any case the previously mentioned cinematics may yet be brief and evenly placed so that they enhance rather than interrupt the undoubtedly brilliant gameplay. Plus there’s always the five-on-five multiplayer game. Presumably Naughty Dog won’t be stuffing that with unwanted cut-scenes? Fingers crossed anyway...
