Excellent news for PlayStation owners, old and newly-arrived – Sony has just extended its discount-priced ‘Platinum’ range, and every single one of the four games added is an ESSENTIAL purchase.

We kid you not! No self respecting gamer should be without at least one of today’s quartet in their collection – all four, preferably. Introductions are most definitely not required for MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 2 and Killzone 2.

Okay, maybe the teensiest preface. According to the official European PlayStation Blog (blog-eu.playstation.com) each has shifted over 400,000 copies in Europe, and that more than justifies some kind of celebration – hence the new, super-discount pricing, says Sony.

On top of that they’ve all been top-performers – Metacritic.com, which aggregates on/offline review scores, rates MotorStorm at 82%, Resistance 2 at 87%, Killzone 2 at 91% and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots at a deservedly lofty 94%.

In short, and without putting to fine a point on it, you need all of these games in your life. At just £19.99 a pop you have but one question to ponder – can you afford not to own them. Like, now...?
