Unlike DVDs, UMDs don’t come loaded with extras, but who needs commentaries and clips when you have films as cool as these on the go?
I, Robot
Starring: Will Smith
It’s the year 2035, and Will Smith’s character Del Spooner is a techno-phobic cop who is called upon to investigate a crime that may have been perpetrated by a robot. It may be an old age story of man versus machine, but this movie from The Crow director Alex Proyas adds another dimension giving the machine a mind and a soul.

Dodgeball
Starring: Ben Stiller
Can a film be any funnier? It’s got Ben Stiller with comedy facial hair, Vince Vaughn being downbeat, yet charming, and dodgeball, which if you’re not familiar with is a sport where you basically, um, dodge a ball. Forget the sport though, the hilarity lies in the competition between gym owners Ben and Vince as they battle for supremacy for the best dodgeball team and gym. Rip Torn also turns in a fantastically funny performance as ex-veteran Dodgeball supremo, Patches O' Houlihan. One to watch while you’re sitting down – walking and clutching your sides in mirth really don’t mix!

Alien Vs Predator
What do you get when you mix two fantastically scary franchises? A thrilling sci-fi adventure where the ultimate species battle it out? Or a silly flick which provides more unintentional sniggers than any desire to hide behind a cushion. The story – or what there is of it – involves the alien legends having a big monster stand off. It’s actually a rites of passage tale – yes, really – in which predators who are coming of age, hunt down aliens. Think Stand By Me but with teeth. There’s lots of screaming and dying and even though the effects are OK, the movie misses a good narrative and decent direction. Leave this one behind and have your own monster marathon and watch all the Alien and Predator movies back to back.

Alien
Starring: Sigourney Weaver
This is a fresh as when it was first released in 1979, even the special effects don’t look that dated. If you’ve not seen this movie – and quite frankly, where have you been? – the premise is simple. Large alien with huge jaws gets on to a spacecraft and bumps off the crew one by one. Even if you do know what’s going to happen, it still has the amazing ability to make you jump out of your seat – so alert your fellow commuters if you decide to watch it on your way to work! Sigourney Weaver kicks ass as Ripley and a stellar cast makes this a definite choice for your new UMD collection.
