Over 100 professional Snooker players feature in this authentic Snooker simulation, which also includes true-to-life tournament locations from the 2004/2005 Tour. Quite apart from mastering your own cue technique, you’ll be challenging the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Paul Hunter, Stephen Hendry, and Matthew Stevens when you step up to the baize. While you’re sweating under the spotlight, commentators Steve Davis and John Parrott join John Virgo to give their views on what’s going down (or not, as the case may be).

Versions of WSC are already available for PC, PS2 and Xbox, and the PSP version is improved over all three. The aiming aid has been modified to give more control over the trickiest of shots, and ‘Tactile Control’ makes use of the analogue stick to enable better judgement of shot power. Your player and those you play against have ‘form’ – you might hit a hot streak, or find yourself having to concentrate harder to make an accurate shot. If you need a break from Snooker, you can pass the time with a strategic game of Billiards, Bar Billiards, or Pool.
We’re no Snooker experts here on Yahoo! Games, but this doesn’t prevent us from enjoying our sessions on WSC 05. For starters the coaching mode, featuring Dennis Taylor as our guide, has really helped us appreciate the tactical nature of the game, to the point where we now feel confident enough to take on the pros. It helps that tournaments take place in locations such as the Crucible Theatre, which even we recognise. Above all what appeals to us about WSC 05 is that it’s so expertly presented, easy to play but clearly difficult to master. Another perfect-for-all PSP triumph!
