E3 '07: Viva Piñata Party Animals First Look

"The party animals are back." The second game shown at Microsoft's E3 press conference was none other than Viva Piñata Party Animals, a collection of minigames featuring all of the characters from the Viva Piñata cartoon, which is set to begin its second season.

The short clip didn't provide an in-depth look into Viva Piñata Party Animals, but one thing that was immediately apparent was that the original game's compelling visual style will be found in the spin-off. The finished product will contain 50 minigames, and races, too. Like most every other party game out there the action here was fast and furious, as we saw several races: piñatas with bombs; what looked to be a twist on hide and seek; piñatas with Xbox 360 controllers in hand; and a humorous event where the piñatas raced little sailboats across the water--but instead of the boats being powered by Mother Nature, they were powered by the burps of the piñatas.

The trailer did show that four players will be able to play one another via split screen, but no details were given on whether or not the game would support online play. We'll have more on Viva Piñata Party Animals once E3 begins.
